Visa-free travel between Malaysia and China from Dec 1

A spokesman for the Chinese embassy here says the rule applies to those entering China for business, tourism, transit purposes, or to visit family.

Malaysians would be able to enter and stay in China for 15 days without a visa, while Chinese nationals may remain in Malaysia for up to 30 days.
PETALING JAYA:
The move by China to allow visa-free travel to citizens of several countries, including Malaysia, from next month will be reciprocated by Putrajaya, says a spokesman for the foreign ministry.

This follows reports that Malaysians would be able to enter and stay in China for 15 days without the need to apply for a visa.

In response, Wisma Putra confirmed that Chinese nationals will be allowed to stay in Malaysia for up to 30 days without a visa.

Meanwhile, the Chinese embassy in Malaysia also confirmed the matter, saying the visa-free policy for Malaysians will be effective for one year, from Dec 1, 2023 until Nov 30, 2024.

It added that this is for those entering China for business, tourism, transit purposes, or to visit family.

“Those who do not meet the purposes of visit and the 15-day time limit are still required to apply for visas.”

Earlier today, China Daily reported that a spokesman for China’s foreign ministry had announced the initiative, with visa-free entry also extended to citizens of France, Italy, the Netherlands, Spain, and Germany.
