In a statement, Fadhlina also said she was demanding the sum to stop the lies – that the ministry had banned the “takbir” chants and recitation of Islamic prayers during the Palestine Solidarity Week in schools nationwide – from spreading.
“Till today, no apology has been forthcoming. Neither has there been any attempt to explain the truth by those who first levelled these accusations.”
She went on to explain her reasons for singling out Jasin MP Zulkifli Ismail in her letter of demand, despite others having made similar allegations.
“He had the floor to clarify the matter in the Dewan (Rakyat), but instead chose to make these remarks without checking, solely to question my faith and to turn it into an issue.”
Fadhlina also said there was a lot of evidence to show that schools had allowed the “takbir” chants and the recitation of Islamic prayers.
But despite the matter being clarified repeatedly, the lie continued to spread, she said.
“So I need to clear my name.”
Earlier today, NST reported that Fadhlina had also demanded an unconditional apology from Zulkifli and Harakahdaily apart from RM500,000 within 48 hours.
In the letter of demand, Fadhlina claimed that the allegations suggested she was deviant and that they depicted her as being a hypocrite as well as accused her of disseminating something that was not part of Islamic teachings.
