In denying allegations of collusion with three other Bersatu MPs to support Prime Minister Anwar Ibrahim’s administration, Suhaili said people should not “underestimate the credibility” of MPs in making these decisions.

“There are false accusations against the four of us, claiming that we received bribes ranging from RM4 million to RM6 million.

“I will take this matter to court and will sue anyone who has made defamatory statements recently,” Sinar Harian reported him as saying at the Sabah International Convention Centre (SICC) today.

Aside from Suhaili, three other Bersatu MPs – Kuala Kangsar MP Iskandar Dzulkarnain Abdul Khalid, Gua Musang MP Azizi Abu Naim and Jeli MP Zahari Kechik – have also backed Anwar, but said they would still remain loyal to their party.

Meanwhile, in addressing questions of breaking anti-party hopping laws, he said he had not read them fully but said the legislation referred to politicians leaving their party, which he had not done.

In earlier reports, Suhaili had described calls to vacate his seat as being “unreasonable”.

“I back the government because I need allocations. Is it a crime to seek these allocations to help the people in Labuan?” he said.
