The focus of the meetings is to finalise high-value investments, according to the Prime Minister’s Office.
“(This) would create high-quality job opportunities in Malaysia, in line with the government’s priorities as outlined in the Madani Economic Framework and National Industrial Master Plan 2030,” it said in a statement today.
Anwar will be in San Francisco, California, to lead the Malaysian delegation at Apec from tomorrow to Nov 17.
Established in 1989, Apec is a regional economic forum comprising 21 members – Australia, Brunei, Canada, Chile, China, Hong Kong, Indonesia, Japan, South Korea, Malaysia, Mexico, New Zealand, Papua New Guinea, Peru, the Philippines, Russia, Singapore, Taiwan, Thailand, the US and Vietnam.
Last week, Anwar had said he would attend Apec despite calls for Malaysia to boycott the summit because of the ongoing situation in Gaza.
Anwar is also slated to take part in various events, including bilateral meetings with Apec leaders and the signing of a cybersecurity cooperation agreement between BlackBerry and the Malaysian Communications and Multimedia Commission (MCMC).
He is also expected to deliver a public lecture at the University of California, Berkeley, touching on geopolitical issues, democracy, constitutional liberties and Islamophobia.
