
In Selangor, 673 people from 170 families were sheltering in relief centres, up from 547 people from 144 families last night, with another centre opened at Dewan Serbaguna MBSJ Camelia Section 10 in Putra Heights, Subang Jaya, housing 91 people.
According to the social welfare department’s disaster information website, seven relief centres have been opened in Selangor. The previous six comprised two in Hulu Langat and four in Sepang.
In Perak, 299 people from 87 families were at four relief centres in the Hilir Perak and Kerian districts, compared to 257 people from 74 families last night.
Meanwhile, the drainage and irrigation department reported that the water in Sungai Bidor at Changkat Jong was at a dangerous level (4.1m), with Sungai Kerian in Selama at a warning level (12.21m) and Sungai Kinta at the Tanjung Tualang weir at an alert level (13.3m).
Flooding has also forced road closures in Perak. According to the state public works department, the FT 147 Jalan Selama route in Kerian is closed to all vehicles following a landslide and motorists are advised to use the alternative route A111 Jalan Pintasan Alor Pongsu-Bukit Merah.
