PAS vice-president Idris Ahmad said the comparison is only drawn by DAP to portray PAS as an “unfair and extreme” Islamic party.
“The treatment (of non-Muslims) has not been any different.
“The same situation existed during Nik Aziz’s days. Our narrative is, and has always been, ‘Islam for all’.
“When Hadi became the Terengganu menteri besar in 1999, he also treated non-Muslims living in the state fairly.
“Demographically, the non-Muslim community in Terengganu is smaller compared to Kelantan, but all are treated fairly,” he said during a press conference after the PAS muktamar here today.

On forming a partnership with Umno, Idris said there had been no discussion among the party’s leadership on this, adding that the focus now was to strengthen their ties with their partners in Perikatan Nasional (PN).
Asked about some opposition MPs’ pleas for equal allocations, he said these elected representatives can still help the people in their areas on what they could afford, adding that the people “would understand their situation”.
“The people know what’s going on today. I have been an MP for five years without any allocations.
“We give (help) based on what we can afford, even if it’s little. The people understand that we do not have much.”
