PETALING JAYA:
The Sultan of Johor, Sultan Ibrahim Sultan Iskandar today reminded all state civil servants, regardless of rank or position, to live within their means.

Sultan Ibrahim said this would ensure they are not lured into corruption.

“Civil servants need to live within their means and must remember that any civil servant living in luxury as a result of corruption will not escape the long arm of the law.

“You (civil servants) are being watched. And for sure, any civil servant living luxuriously or beyond reasonable means will raise suspicion,” Bernama quoted him as saying in a Facebook post.

The sultan said all civil servants must declare their assets yearly to prevent the accumulation of questionable assets.

At the same time, he said the government could consider reviewing the low salaries of some civil servants, especially those serving in urban areas.

Sultan Ibrahim said Inspector-General of Police Razarudin Husain had also raised this matter by saying that the police force will not compromise with any member of the force involved in abuse of power or corruption.

The sultan hoped Johor civil servants would always uphold high integrity to earn the trust of the people.
