
He said the foreign ministry, through the Malaysian embassy in Jordan, has been in contact with a Malaysian doctor in the conflict zone, as well as a mother and her three children.
“They are in a safe area. We are trying to evacuate the doctor and have been cooperating with the Philippine embassy (there) to evacuate the family as well as eight Indonesian nationals from the area,” he told the Dewan Rakyat during the question-and-answer session today.
He was responding to Tan Hong Pin (PH-Bakri), who asked about the measures taken by the government to help victims after Israel imposed a siege on the Gaza Strip and restricted supplies such as water, food and electricity.
Zambry said Wisma Putra is monitoring the situation, especially on the whereabouts of Malaysians in the conflict areas.
“There have been no other reports involving Malaysians, save from several days ago. However, the group of Malaysians involved then in Jerusalem have been evacuated,” he said.
He said the government will soon channel RM1 million through the Humanitarian Trust Fund for the People of Palestine (AAKRP) fund managed by Wisma Putra to support the Palestinian cause.
