PETALING JAYA:
Kota Melaka MP Khoo Poay Tiong has been appointed the new Melaka Port Authority Malaysia (MPAM) chairman.

He was believed to have been appointed to the post last month.

When contacted via WhatsApp about his appointment, Khoo confirmed it by replying “yes”, before adding “this (MPAM) is not a GLC (government-linked company)”.

Checks on MPAM’s official website also showed his name as the chairman of the board.

Khoo has taken over the post which was previously held by MCA central committee member Koh Chin Han.

Khoo, who is Melaka DAP vice-chairman, previously served as the Ayer Keroh assemblyman over two terms after winning the state seat in the 2008 and 2013 general elections.

In the 2018 general election (GE14), Khoo won the Kota Melaka parliamentary seat and retained it in GE15 last November.
