43 Malaysians rescued from Macau scam human trafficking syndicate in Peru

All the victims are scheduled to be repatriated to Malaysia after the investigation process is completed.

Wisma Putra said the Malaysian embassy in Lima will ensure the well-being of the victims and their safe return home.

43 Malaysians who fell victim to a Macau scam human trafficking syndicate have been rescued by the Peru police, says the foreign affairs ministry.

In a statement, the ministry said the Malaysian embassy in Lima, Peru, confirmed the rescue after local authorities raided a house in La Molina, Lima, on Oct 7, where all victims were found and identified.

“The embassy has conducted consular visits to all the victims and found them to be in good condition,” it said.

“All the victims have also undergone an investigation process and will be repatriated to Malaysia in the near future.”

Wisma Putra added the Malaysian embassy in Lima will continue to coordinate with local authorities, providing necessary consular assistance to all victims to ensure their well-being and their safe return to Malaysia.
