Speaking to reporters after attending the national Maulidur Rasul celebration at the Putrajaya International Convention Centre today, Na’im said he will explain issues related to the interpretation of the Quran to Lee.
“God willing, when we have such engagements with non-Muslims, we hope they will see that Islam is a merciful religion,” he said.
Na’im previously reminded muftis to provide explanations to clear the air about such issues.
He said this would also prevent such matters from being manipulated by certain parties, including politicians.
Lee, who is being probed over the video, apologised for his actions on Tuesday, and said he did not interpret the Quran.
Instead, the DAP central executive committee member said he had only cited a verse from the Quran.
He also requested that the matter be put to rest, adding that he was concerned about the discourse on the topic on social media.
