MIC president SA Vigneswaran said the peaceful rally will take place next Friday afternoon, Bernama reported.
He added that MIC has also asked the communications and digital ministry to prevent access and screening of films produced by Tamil Nadu sports minister Udhayanidhi Stalin.
Udhayanidhi is reported to have called for the “eradication of Sanatana Dharma”, triggering a political row in India. Sanatana Dharma, meaning “eternal order”, is an alternative name for Hinduism used in Sanskrit and other Indian languages.
A Hindu newspaper had reported that Udhayanidhi said at a Sept 2 conference that there were a few things that could not be opposed but had to be eradicated. “Just like dengue, mosquitoes, malaria, or coronavirus need to be eradicated, we have to eradicate Sanatana,” he said.
