PETALING JAYA:
An opposition MP has denied vaping in the Dewan Rakyat after a picture of him holding an object to his mouth made the rounds on social media.

Ikmal Hisham Abdul Aziz clarified that he had a pen in his mouth.

“Everyone knows that I am not a smoker. I can’t even stand being next to one, what more vaping,” the Tanah Merah MP told FMT.

Ikmal also said he was among those who backed former health minister Khairy Jamaluddin’s Control of Tobacco Product and Smoking Bill 2022, widely known as the Generational End Game (GEG) bill.

He added that he was prepared to explain his alleged vaping to Dewan Rakyat Speaker Johari Abdul who had said that he would issue a letter to Ikmal.

In 2020, then foreign minister Hishammuddin Hussein was issued a compound notice for smoking an e-cigarette inside the Dewan Rakyat. He apologised for his actions.
