BN to submit 6 names for Pelangai by-election, says Wan Rosdy

The by-election was triggered by the death of its assemblyman Johari Harun.

Wan Rosdy Wan Ismail said the Pahang Barisan Nasional leadership has agreed to submit six potential names to the top leadership for consideration.
KUANTAN:
Pahang Barisan Nasional will propose six potential candidates for the Pelangai by-election to the coalition’s top leadership, says state chief Wan Rosdy Wan Ismail.

He said the candidate for the seat will be announced two to three days before nomination day on Sept 23.

The by-election was triggered by the death of its assemblyman, Umno’s Johari Harun.

Johari, 53, was among the 10 who died in a plane crash in Bandar Elmina, Shah Alam in Selangor on Aug 17.

According to a Bernama report, Wan Rosdy said the party will not take the by-election lightly even though the seat has been a BN stronghold for decades.

“In any situation, we have and will continue to work hard. We can’t take it for granted,” he said after an event in Kuantan.

The Pelangai by-election will be held on Oct 7, with early voting set for Oct 3.

In GE15, Johari won the Pelangai seat with a 4,048-vote majority in a four-cornered contest against Perikatan Nasional, Pakatan Harapan and Pejuang candidates.
