RGB International says MD out on MACC bail

The leading casino machine supplier denies involvement in political funding.

RGB International Bhd said its managing director, Chuah Kim Seah, is fully cooperating with MACC in its probe.
PETALING JAYA:
The managing director of RGB International Bhd, a leading casino machine supplier, is currently out on bail amid an ongoing probe by the Malaysian Anti-Corruption Commission (MACC), the company said today.

In a Bursa filing yesterday, RGB said its managing director, Chuah Kim Seah, is fully cooperating with MACC in its probe.

“The company wishes to highlight that the investigation has been largely focused on his private business related to slot clubs. RGB’s involvement in this investigation is solely related to the sale of machines to Malaysia’s slot clubs.

“The company wishes to stress that it has not and will not condone any form of ‘political funding’. The company’s directors have no links to any politician in the country,” it said.

RGB added that its non-executive director, Norazman Hamidun, was not arrested by the anti-graft agency.

Quoting sources, Utusan Malaysia had reported that 13 people, including one with a “Tan Sri” title, were detained by MACC last week over political funding for the 15th general election (GE15).

The Malay language daily reported that between RM6 million and RM7 million had been received by certain VIPs and political leaders.

On Sunday, a blog known as Sabah Kini published an article claiming that RGB was among the companies raided by MACC.

In December 2022, Malaysiakini quoted Prime Minister Anwar Ibrahim as implying that Perikatan Nasional’s funds for its election campaign partly came from gaming companies, particularly those that took part in “special draws” for 4D numbers.

Anwar’s deputy, Ahmad Zahid Hamidi, reportedly echoed the prime minister’s statement and claimed he was confident the “other side” had gained funds from the gaming companies.
