Malaysia Airlines ends in-flight catering partnership with Brahim’s

Malaysia Aviation Group says it will explore various strategies, including partnering with reputable F&B providers.

Malaysia Aviation Group said it would activate its business continuity plan for in-flight meal services on selected routes under Malaysia Airlines from Sept 1.
PETALING JAYA:
The in-flight catering partnership between Malaysia Aviation Group (MAG) and Brahim’s Food Services (BFS) comes to an end tomorrow.

In a statement, MAG, which is the parent company of Malaysia Airlines, said it received a formal discontinuation notice terminating the partnership on June 30, but Brahim’s subsequently agreed to a two-month extension ending on Aug 31.

MAG said it would activate its business continuity plan (BCP) for in-flight meal services on selected routes under Malaysia Airlines effective Sept 1.

“The activation of the BCP marks the discontinuation of the legacy partnership on catering services previously provided by BFS on selected domestic and international routes within the Malaysia Airlines network,” it said in the statement.

“During this transition, Malaysia Airlines will be serving the impacted routes with alternative in-flight food and beverage (F&B), ensuring seamless operations while minimising any potential impact on customer comfort and experience,” it said.

According to MAG, its other routes would continue to be served by its current provider, POS Aviation.

MAG said it would continue to explore diverse strategies to ensure business sustainability, which includes partnering with reputable F&B providers.

It also said it was planning its own catering operations under Malaysia Airlines, including sourcing for pre-packaged food items and F&B supplies from various vendors, such as the company’s lounge operator, MAS Awana.

Meanwhile, MAG’s ground handling company, AeroDarat Services, will manage the in-flight meal uplift process onboard the aircraft.

To facilitate this, MAG said a temporary distribution centre which complied with safety standards set by the Civil Aviation Authority of Malaysia and the health ministry had been set up at KLIA.

Brahim’s had been providing the airline’s in-flight catering for over 25 years.
