PETALING JAYA:
Three contract workers, including two siblings, pleaded not guilty in the Johor Bahru sessions court today to raping a 15-year-old girl.

Najib Hashim, 22, his brother Nazim, 18, and Rizuan Semail, 18, are accused of raping the teenager in a vehicle by a roadside in Bandar Baru Uda at about 9pm on Aug 4.

Rizuan faces two other charges for raping the same girl at a home in Bandar Baru Uda on Aug 5 and 6.

Deputy public prosecutor Nur Farah Wahida Shahudin proposed bail of RM20,000 for each defendant.

However, the accused’s lawyers, led by Nurhazneena Zureen Jaesleen Hanafiah, pleaded for a lower bail, citing each defendant’s RM1,000 monthly income as contract workers.

The court set bail of RM15,000 each for Najib and Nazim, while Rizuan’s bail was set at RM24,000.

The trio were ordered to surrender their passports and to report to the nearest police station once a month. They were also told to stay away from witnesses in the case.

The next hearing has been fixed on Oct 18.
