PETALING JAYA:
Negeri Sembilan Umno chairman Jalaluddin Alias hopes that the party will be allocated at least five to six posts in the state government’s new executive council (exco).

Jalaluddin said the appointment of exco members should be based on the number of seats won by the respective parties at the polls, Berita Harian reported.

“With that said, the final decision will be made after I meet with menteri besar Aminuddin Harun,” he was quoted as saying.

The newly-elected Pertang assemblyman said he will submit a shortlist of names for exco posts to Aminuddin, comprising both experienced individuals and new faces.

“Aminuddin has not contacted me yet (on the appointment of exco members). Although I’m uncertain about when it will be discussed, I anticipate that the appointments will be made within this week.”

Barisan Nasional won 14 of the 17 seats it contested in the recent state election, while Pakatan Harapan won 17 of the 19 seats it contested, giving the alliance a two-thirds majority in the Negeri Sembilan state assembly.

Perikatan Nasional holds the remaining five seats in the 36-seat assembly.
