Berjaya Land appoints Sarawak premier’s son as independent director

Abang Johari Openg's son, Abang Abdillah Izzarim's appointment is effective Aug 10, the company said in a filing with Bursa Malaysia.

Abang Abdillah Izzarim Abang Abdul Rahman Zohari is also executive chairman of Sarawak Consolidated Industries and chairman of Sarawak-based telecommunications company Irix Sdn Bhd.

Berjaya Land has announced the appointment of Abang Abdillah Izzarim Abang Abdul Rahman Zohari as an independent non-executive director effective Aug 10.

Abang Abdillah, 45, is the son of Sarawak premier, Abang Johari Openg.

According to a Bursa filing, Abang Abdillah started his career as a commercial pilot before moving into the world of technology and business.

He took on the role of executive chairman at Sarawak Consolidated Industries Bhd in June and currently holds the position of chairman at Sarawak-based telecommunications company Irix Sdn Bhd (formerly known as PP Telecommunication Sdn Bhd).

Abang Abdillah also serves as a director at Cempaka Helicopter Corporation Sdn Bhd

“Known for his hands-on approach, (Abang Abdillah) Izzarim actively engages in day-to-day operations, leading and guiding his team to ensure alignment with client expectations and fruitful business partnerships,” said the filing.
