“It’s a very clear rule,” Nga said following reports that former Bagan Dalam assemblyman M Satees and former Seberang Perai city councillor David Marshel had resigned from DAP and will contest the polls as independent candidates.

Satees was among seven former assemblymen, including five executive councillors, dropped for the Penang state election.

Both he and Marshel said they were standing as independents to ensure that incumbent chief minister Chow Kon Yeow would remain in his post.

Speaking to reporters on the sidelines of an event in Sepang today, Nga also dismissed claims that DAP chairman Lim Guan Eng is bidding to return to the chief minister’s post.

He said the state’s constitution made it clear that a chief minister cannot hold the post for more than two terms.
