After 8 years on the run, foreigner nabbed, charged with murder

The Myanmar national is believed to have stabbed a man to death during a fight in 2015.

PETALING JAYA:
After eight years of hiding from the police, a former construction worker from Myanmar was charged in the Ampang magistrates’ court today with murdering a Bangladeshi national.

Ajib Kham, 37, was arrested by the police in Penang on June 23, according to Sinar Harian.

Today, he was charged with killing laundromat worker Uzzal Ali, 28, in Ampang on Sept 5, 2015.

The charge was framed under Section 302 of the Penal Code, which provides for the death penalty or up to 40 years in prison, and 12 strokes of the rotan upon conviction.

No plea was recorded as the case falls under the jurisdiction of the High Court.

Magistrate Normaizan Rahim fixed Oct 3 for further mention.

Ajib is alleged to have stabbed Uzzal after a misunderstanding led to a fight.

Uzzal was sent to Ampang Hospital but was pronounced dead on arrival.
