PETALING JAYA:
PAS will finalise its list of candidates for the six state elections in the next two weeks and will ensure that it does not include anyone who has committed any “major sins”.

This was revealed by its deputy president, Tuan Ibrahim Tuan Man, who said that it was one of the criteria that the Syura Council – its highest decision-making body – will use when vetting the list of potential candidates for all six states, Bernama reported.

He added that the candidates will also be screened to ensure they had never sullied the party’s image and were capable of carrying out their responsibilities if elected.

Tuan Ibrahim said the Syura council will review candidates to ensure they fulfil syarie requirements.

“We instructed every constituency to submit at least two names, but there are those who proposed three, four and five candidates,” he was quoted as saying.

Tuan Ibrahim said this when launching the Perikatan Nasional (PN) election machinery in Kubang Kerian, Kelantan last night.

He added that after the Syura Council had vetted the list, the names of the candidates would be sent to the PAS central committee before being passed to party president Abdul Hadi Awang and the respective state leaders to endorse the candidates.

Tuan Ibrahim also said that a list making the rounds on social media of supposed candidates for the coming state polls was fake.
