Negeri Sembilan state assembly to be dissolved on Saturday

The Negeri Sembilan state assembly will be dissolved on Saturday to make way for the state election.

Menteri besar Aminuddin Harun said the Yang di-Pertuan Besar of Negeri Sembilan, Tuanku Muhriz ibni Almarhum Tuanku Munawir, has consented to the proposed date.

“This morning, I had an audience with Tuanku Muhriz to sign the state assembly dissolution notification letter to pave the way for the state election to be held.

“It is confirmed the dissolution date is on July 1,” he told reporters at Wisma Negeri here this morning.

Earlier, Aminuddin arrived at Istana Hinggap here at 10am for an audience with Tuanku Muhriz to seek his consent to dissolve the assembly.

Negeri Sembilan, which has 36 state seats, is one of six states that will be holding elections within 60 days. The others are Selangor, Penang, Kedah, Kelantan and Terengganu.

At the last state election, Pakatan Harapan won 20 seats, and Barisan Nasional 16.
