PETALING JAYA:
Bersatu’s Gombak Setia assemblyman Hilman Idham has slammed the Selangor state government for issuing an eviction order on his community service centre.

Hilman said the eviction notice, received yesterday, requested that the premises be vacated “immediately”.

He said enforcement officers from the Gombak district and land office as well as Selayang Municipal Council arrived at 3.50pm today to vacate the land but failed to complete the task as they did not have a court order.

“I wish to stress that the reason given (for the eviction), that no state government approval was given for the land to be used as a service centre, is completely nonsensical and stupid,” he said in a statement.

Hilman claimed the service centre had been operating on the land for more than five years, with full knowledge of the Selangor government.

He said the eviction order was not signed off by the Gombak district land administrator but his deputy in charge of enforcement.

Hilman also claimed the action taken by the authorities did not comply with proper legal procedures even though Section 425 of the National Land Code for unlawful occupation was cited for the eviction.

“Clearly, this action is an abuse of power, a threat and a political vendetta by the Selangor government led by (menteri besar) Amirudin Shari.”

He said this move was a desperate move on Pakatan Harapan’s part in the lead-up to the coming state polls.

He said his lawyers, Messrs Sasha Lyna, had been instructed to take legal action against the authorities.

FMT sighted a letter from Hilman’s lawyer to the state authorities today denying that the service centre was operating unlawfully. It said its occupancy was displayed by the state government on its own portal.

It also said no reasonable period was given to the occupants to vacate the premises and that legal action would be taken against the authorities should they forcibly remove them and their belongings from the service centre.
