PETALING JAYA:
The people need not worry about a shortage of chicken eggs as supply chain conditions are favourable, says the Federation of Livestock Farmers’ Associations of Malaysia (FLFAM).

The association’s president, Tan Chee Hee, said there are no signs of any serious shortage of raw materials needed to produce chicken feed.

“The country is also free from serious outbreaks of poultry disease,” he said in a statement today.

“Under these favourable conditions and the current good egg production results, the industry is confident that the country will have a sufficient supply of eggs for the second half of 2023.”

Earlier this month, the government announced it would continue to subsidise the prices of chicken and eggs from July 1.

This came after agriculture and food security minister Mohamad Sabu said that Putrajaya would lift price controls on the two items after June 30.
