Poster of Hadi urging Muslims to ‘kill enemies’ fake

PETALING JAYA:
A poster circulating online claiming PAS president Abdul Hadi Awang has called on Muslims to “kill enemies of Islam” is fake, says his aide.

Hadi’s press secretary Malik Razak told FMT that the fake poster was “slanderous”.

“We will discuss whether to take further action,” he said when asked whether the party will lodge a police report on the matter.

The fake poster, which is dated today and has gone viral on social media, shows a picture of Hadi next to three messages titled: “Tiga amanat buat pejuang Islam (Three messages for Islam’s warriors).”

In the poster, Hadi also allegedly told Muslims to slander and cut off ties with others if it could help defeat the enemies of Islam.

In an interview with FMT last month, Institute of Strategic and International Studies senior analyst Harris Zainul said the authorities must seriously consider the potential for artificial intelligence to be abused to create “realistic” false materials during election campaigns.

Six states will go to the polls this year — Selangor, Negeri Sembilan, Penang, Kedah, Kelantan and Terengganu.
