PETALING JAYA:
Former Terengganu menteri besar Idris Jusoh will step down as the Federal Land Development Authority (Felda) chairman at the end of the month, one year ahead of schedule.

In a Facebook post, Idris said he has accepted the decision by the Prime Minister’s Office to relinquish the post.

“The decision was made to allow the prime minister to appoint a suitable replacement,” he said.

Idris, who served as the higher education minister from 2015 to 2018, was appointed as Felda chairman in May 2020.

He replaced Bakke Salleh.

In February 2022, then prime minister Ismail Sabri Yaakob announced that Idris’ contract as Felda chairman had been extended for two more years.

Idris was the Besut MP for three terms but chose not to defend his seat in last year’s general election.
