Anwar, who is also finance minister, said the 30% affordable housing threshold for housing projects was not being met.
“That is why I have asked local government development minister Nga Kor Ming to review and set new conditions,” he said in Putrajaya today.
Anwar said housing developers must abide by this condition so that the middle-income group can afford to buy their own homes.
The government has required developers to ensure at least 30% of homes in mega housing projects are affordable since 1981.
Anwar added that 200,000 houses costing less than RM300,000 were needed to meet the demand of civil servants nationwide.
