They also involved two different victims, one a Form One boy and the other from Form Two.
Seberang Perai Utara district police chief Asri Shafie said police were conducting further investigations into the two cases.
“The two incidents occurred on Friday, involving two victims who were beaten up by several other students in the boys’ toilet.
“The first case occurred around 1pm. The victim was a Form Two student who was beaten up by a Form Three boy.
“The second case happened at 3pm. The victim was a Form One student who was assaulted by nine seniors.
“Our investigations revealed that in both cases, the victims were punched and kicked. No objects were used,” he said in a statement today.
Asri said in the second case, police had arrested nine boys, aged between 14 and 16, who were students of the school.
He said police had seized six mobile phones to assist in investigations. Two short videos on the incidents had gone viral on social media on Friday.
The reason for the assault is still being investigated.
Asri requested the public not share the videos as they could cause unease within the community.
The first case is being investigated under Section 323 of the Penal Code for causing hurt while the second has been classified under Section 147 for rioting, he added.
One of the videos shows a boy being repeatedly punched and kicked by a group of students.
Most of those in the video, including the victim, were wearing face masks and sports attire.
