PETALING JAYA:
Anyone who feels there is an element of fraud in the sale of Coldplay concert tickets should lodge an official complaint to enable an investigation to be carried out, says the domestic trade and cost of living ministry.

“They should make an official complaint by presenting the relevant evidence,” it said in a statement.

The existence of accounts on various social media and e-commerce platforms reselling Coldplay concert tickets at exorbitant prices went viral over the past week. Some of these “ticket sales” were said to be run by scammers.

The ministry also advised consumers to make smart purchases by getting tickets from official and legitimate channels to avoid being scammed.

On Thursday, communications and digital minister Fahmi Fadzil instructed the Malaysian Communications and Multimedia Commission (MCMC) to take action on Coldplay ticket resale advertisements on social media.

He said there were fraudulent activities in the resale of the concert tickets on social media and MCMC would ask the operators of the various platforms to take down the posting.

The Coldplay: Music of the Spheres World Tour is scheduled to play on Nov 22 at the Bukit Jalil National Stadium, marking the band’s first-ever concert in Malaysia.
