GEORGE TOWN:
Police have arrested six men from two families over a fight in Tanjung Bungah that broke out when a woman motorcyclist was run down by a car on May 8.

The 59-year-old woman was killed after a car hit her from behind, police said.

Northeast district police chief Soffian Santong said the six men, aged between 28 and 59, were detained today after police learned at 2pm of a video clip posted on Facebook.

It showed the accident and a fight involving several people by the side of the road.

He said there was a verbal argument between both parties involved before it escalated into a fight. “We arrested six men from two families involved in the accident,” he said.

All six have since been released on police bail after having their statements recorded. Soffian advised the public not to share recordings of the incident to avoid speculation.
