PETALING JAYA:
A rugby player who used to represent Sabah has been charged in the Kota Kinabalu magistrates’ court with killing his younger sister last week.

Arden Mattson Maturin, 26, was charged under Section 302 of the Penal Code for murder, which provides for the death penalty if convicted.

No plea was recorded from Arden, who still plays for a local rugby club, as the case is under the jurisdiction of the High Court.

He was charged with killing his 24-year-old sister, Audrey, between 3.30pm and 4.30pm in their family home at Taman Prestij in Jalan Signal Hill, Kota Kinabalu, on May 4.

It was reported that their father had found the victim unconscious at 4.50pm, covered in blood with wounds on her face.

She was sent to Queen Elizabeth Hospital for treatment but died two days later.

The court fixed June 14 for case mention.

Arden was not represented. Insp Albert Basiri prosecuted.
