PETALING JAYA:
The police are investigating an incident involving a secondary school student from SMK Taman Melawati who was allegedly beaten up by his seniors on Monday.

Ampang Jaya district police chief Farouk Eshak said the incident occurred at about 9.30am, when the boy, who is in Form 3, was allegedly punched in his chest, choked and kicked in his back by a Form 5 student at his school.

Later, at about 3pm, the victim was asked to go to Bukit Mar Mar Kemensah by five students, where he was punched in the face four times, Farouk said in a statement.

“The incident was witnessed by about 10 to 15 students,” he said.

According to Farouk, the victim suffered injuries to his forehead, jaw, and neck.

A video showing the victim on the ground trying to protect himself while being beaten and kicked by the suspects has also gone viral on social media.

The incident was said to have been due to a misunderstanding between the victim and a group of Form 5 students.

Farouk said the case is being investigated under Section 323 of the Penal Code for voluntarily causing hurt. The section carries a punishment of up to one year in jail, or a fine of not more than RM2,000, or both, upon conviction.
