Sarawak goes on alert with hot weather action plan

Water tankers have been mobilised and water management bodies have activated their action plans in view of the dry season.

The Sarawak water authorities have put plans into action ahead of the dry season which is expected to prevail until August.
KUCHING:
Water supply authorities in Sarawak have activated their action plans to mitigate the impact of the dry season that is expected to prevail in the state until this August.

State utilities and telecommunication minister Julaihi Narawi said the Sarawak rural water supply department, Kuching water board, Sibu water board and Laku Management Sdn Bhd have activated their action plans.

Community leaders and consumers were also advised to report immediately any low water pressure or water supply disruptions in their areas to these authorities.

He said water tankers are now on standby to be mobilised to areas without water supply if the dry weather persists.

“The matter has also been taken up under the Sarawak Disaster Management Committee” he told reporters at his Aidilfitri open house here.

For the affected areas, water collection centres would be set up at strategic locations, and this information would be publicised and updated periodically, he said.
