In a tweet last night, Luqman said he quit the ministry two weeks ago.
“I gave one month’s notice and the office has long been aware,” he said.
Meanwhile, an aide to Yeoh confirmed with FMT that Luqman had submitted his resignation letter.
“He did not state why he is resigning,” the aide said.
It is understood that Luqman was appointed to the post in December following Yeoh’s appointment as youth and sports minister.
Checks made by FMT on the ministry’s website also showed that Luqman’s name and contact information had been removed from the staff directory under the minister’s office.
FMT has reached out to Luqman for comment.
Luqman recently sparked controversy by tweeting a veiled jab at Prime Minister Anwar Ibrahim over his plans to host Aidilfitri open houses in Kedah, Kelantan, and Terengganu instead of his official residence Seri Perdana in Putrajaya.
Anwar will also attend three other Aidilfitri open houses in Selangor, Penang and Negeri Sembilan, organised by the state governments.
“Imagine the reaction if (former prime minister) Ismail Sabri (Yaakob) had organised Hari Raya celebrations across six, seven states,” Luqman had tweeted.
