
Amid the rising prices of clothes, confectionaries and decorations, many are also faced with the uncertainty of whether Aidilfitri falls tomorrow or on Saturday, with some private sector employees yet to be paid for the month.
Saffri Kamaruddin, who works as a security guard at a factory, said he faced difficulties preparing for the festive period having recently spent RM3,000 on school items for his children.
“I have to dig into my savings for Aidilfitri essentials as I have yet to receive my salary,” he told FMT. “As a father, I have to try my best as the most important thing is that my family is happy, no matter how modest the celebrations are.”

Syafiq Rozaman, 42, lamented the high prices of school supplies and expenses for Aidilfitri.
“If there is aid from the government or NGOs, perhaps the burden on the underprivileged could be lightened,” the Selangor resident said.
A GLC employee, who wished to be known only as Cahaya, said she felt the financial strain even though she does not have any children.
“Imagine what it’s like for parents with many children,” the 29-year-old newly wed said.
Hakim Rayyan, 34, said he saved up in advance to avoid straining his family’s expenses.
He said Aidilfitri celebrations must continue regardless of the economic situation, adding that planning ahead was important.
Hari Raya Aidilfitri will either fall tomorrow or on Saturday.
