The bids, which were open via the JPJeBID system on April 1, had exceeded that for the previous AMG plate series, said state director Yusoff Abustan.
“The AMG plates were specific for Mercedes-Benz AMG fans. The AMY plates have received a better response, with motorists bidding for almost all popular numbers.
“The highest bid was RM400,000 for AMY 1. Bids for AMY 2 till AMY 9 reached RM80,000 for each plate.
“Currently, only 16 plates are left of the popular numbers,” he told a press conference after the launch of the 2023 Hari Raya Aidilfitri road safety campaign.
He added that successful bids needed to be registered to a vehicle within 12 months of the offer letter issued by the JPJ.
The other numbers that did not receive any bids would be open for booking by the public at the fixed minimum price.
