Kulai police chief Tok Beng Yeow said in a statement that the bag was found by a man who then reported it to the police at about 1.50pm.
“The remains were sent to the Sultanah Aminah Hospital (HSA) here for a post-mortem,” he said.
Based on the post-mortem report, the body was that of a woman, estimated to be over 25 years old.
The victim, who sustained a head injury, is believed to have died about two weeks ago.
Tok said police were still waiting for the full post-mortem report to determine the cause of death. The case is being investigated under Section 302 of the Penal Code.
He urged anyone with information to go to the Kulai police headquarters or contact the investigating officer at 016-2850204.
