Zaliha said there were 2,796,638 Covid-19 vaccine doses of various brands that had expired and were being stored at the ministry’s facilities and vaccine storage warehouse.

She was replying to a question by Dr Ahmad Azam Hamzah in the Dewan Negara on the number of vaccine doses that had expired and the costs the government had incurred.

While the shelf life for Covid-19 vaccines used in Malaysia had been extended in January, Zaliha had disclosed two months later that nearly 2.8 million vaccine doses had expired as of Feb 28.

She said the doses that had expired made up 3.27% of the total amount of vaccine doses acquired by the government.

She also said more than eight million doses of Covid-19 vaccines stored by the health ministry will expire by September this year.
