Soldier goes missing while on duty in Perak forest reserve

He went missing three days ago during an operation in the Royal Belum forest reserve with five others.

A 33-year-old soldier from the Seri Bentong army camp in Pahang has gone missing while on duty in the Royal Belum forest reserve in Gerik, Perak.

Perak police chief Yusri Hassan Basri said a report on the soldier’s disappearance was lodged yesterday morning.

Preliminary investigations found that the soldier went missing on April 7 while conducting an operation in the forest reserve with five other colleagues.

“Armed forces personnel have been conducting search-and-rescue efforts since April 7. The soldier has yet to be found,” he said in a statement.

Yusri added that the soldier was attached to the 25th battalion of the Royal Malay Regiment.
