Ex-PKR MP joins Santiago in SPAN

Nor Azrina Surip was among the 10 commission members who received their letters of appointment this morning.

PKR’s former Merbok MP Nor Azrina Surip has been appointed a member of the National Water Service Commission (SPAN).

According to a Facebook post by SPAN, she and nine other commission members received their letters of appointment from natural resources, environment and climate change minister Nik Nazmi Nik Ahmad this morning.

She joins former Klang MP Charles Santiago in the commission. The DAP man was reappointed its chairman last month. He had held the post from Nov 1, 2018 to Oct 31, 2020, when Pakatan Harapan was in government.

Nor Azrina has a master’s degree in environmental engineering from Universiti Sains Malaysia and a civil engineering bachelor’s degree from Universiti Teknologi Malaysia.

She is a former one-term MP, having won the Merbok seat in Kedah during the 2018 general election with a 10,072-vote majority.

However, she lost to Perikatan Nasional’s Nazri Abu Hassan by 21,019 votes in the15th general election held in November last year.
