Wangsa Maju district police chief Ashari Abu Samah said that 60 police reports had been lodged against the March 30 event as of 4pm this evening.
He said the police met with the event’s organiser and the bar’s management this afternoon and warned them not to carry on with the event.
“The organiser and management have agreed to comply with the order, and no such programme or activity will be conducted,” Ashari said in a statement.
“The police will constantly monitor the premises and will take action if it is found to be violating the law.”
Meanwhile, Bernama quoted religious affairs minister Na’im Mokhtar as saying that the federal territories Islamic religious department (Jawi) has been instructed to investigate the event.
A poster of the event went viral on social media recently. The “Thai Hot Guy” event is supposed to be part of the launch of the bar, Privacy Tun Razak.
An aide to Prime Minister Anwar Ibrahim today said the venue did not have an entertainment licence and had not applied for one.
Anwar’s political secretary, Azman Abidin, also said he was informed by Kuala Lumpur City Hall (DBKL) that the venue was licensed as a restaurant, but its restaurant licence expired in February 2021.
DBKL said it would issue a statement on the matter.
