
According to a source, the suspect in his 50s is believed to have asked for the gratification to get MACC to change the accused’s statement into a witness statement and to convert the main corruption charge into an alternative one.
The source said the suspect was detained at about 9.30pm after he came to the Kuala Lumpur MACC headquarters to give his statement.
“The suspect had worked as a deputy registrar in Putrajaya before retiring in December 2021.”
He said Putrajaya magistrate Irza Zulaikha Rohanuddin allowed the man to be remanded for three days this morning following a request by MACC.
When contacted, Kuala Lumpur MACC director Razaliah Ab Rahman confirmed the arrest and said the suspect was being investigated under Section 16 (a) of the MACC Act 2009.
