The taxi driver, who is in his 70s, was robbed near a Chinese temple in Pengerang after he ferried them for 40 minutes from Gelang Patah to Pengerang.
Kota Tinggi police chief Hussin Zamora said the robbers took RM400 in cash, his cell phone and a watch before fleeing into a nearby bush.
“Less than four hours after receiving the report, a team of police officers from the criminal investigation department of the Kota Tinggi police arrested both men, who are in their 30s, near the crime scene and recovered the stolen items.
“One of the suspects has a tattoo of a spider and centipede on his left chest area and right arm, leading us to believe he is part of the 08 gang,” said Hussin in a statement.
“Both men also have past criminal and drug records. One of them is wanted for a crime reported in Serendah in 2022 and Rawang, Selangor, in 2010.”
The suspects have been remanded for seven days, starting today.
