Saying it was a matter of public interest, he said he would be filing a motion on the matter in Parliament.
“The prime minister previously said that everything would be done via an open tender, yet it was only given to one importer,” he said in the Dewan Rakyat.
Agriculture and food security minister Mohamad Sabu previously told the Dewan Rakyat that the move to import eggs from India was a temporary measure to meet demand.
It was recently revealed that J&E Advance Tech Sdn Bhd was the sole importer of eggs from India.
The identity of the importer was inadvertently revealed in a letter of demand to Barisan Nasional’s Wee Ka Siong.
The company claimed, through its lawyer S Ravichandaran, that the statements by the Ayer Hitam MP had indirectly affected its business.
Wee, who has frequently raised the issue of egg supply in the country, last week produced an egg imported from India, a locally produced egg and an omega egg to compare their sizes and prices in the Dewan Rakyat.
