Provide equal allocations for all, PH MP tells Anwar after Johor floods

Hassan Abdul Karim says the government must be fair to the opposition.

Pakatan Harapan’s Hassan Abdul Karim said not all MPs were well off.
KUALA LUMPUR:
A government MP has demanded Prime Minister Anwar Ibrahim provide equal allocation to parliamentarians across the divide to ensure aid would reach the public directly.

Commenting on the floods that struck Johor, Hassan Abdul Karim (PH-Pasir Gudang) said that the Mersing MP has yet to receive his allocations.

“So how is he to help his constituents,” Hassan told the Dewan Rakyat, referring to Islahuddin Abas of Perikatan Nasional (PN).

Hassan said that not all MPs were well off.

“We can’t do this to the opposition, we need to be fair.”

There are 26 MPs from Johor. Two are from PN, while the rest were from PH and Barisan Nasional.

Hassan proposed that the government should amend the law so that MPs, regardless of whether they were in the opposition or in government, would receive equal allocations.

“If the Tambun MP can do this, it would be great, and I believe many would support him,” he said, referring to Anwar.

Separately, Hassan said that Anwar should not only look into implementing the Malaysia Agreement 1963 but also the Federation of Malaya Agreement 1948.

“Anwar should also listen to the grouses of the opposition blocs in the east coast and the northern region who want their rights under the federation to be realised.”
