
The state disaster management committee said 21 relief centres have been opened, with six each in Segamat, Kluang and Johor Bahru, and three in Kota Tinggi.
“A total of 209 families in Segamat have been affected by floods, followed by 162 families in Kluang, 131 families in Johor Bahru and 32 families in Kota Tinggi,” it said in a statement, Bernama reported.
The Malaysian meteorological department said “very heavy rain” is expected to continue in the state until tomorrow.
In Sarawak, 278 people have also been evacuated following floods, with the number of victims rising from 127 who had been relocated last night.
Six relief centres have been opened in Kuching and Bau.
Meanwhile, a total of 464 people in Kota Marudu and Tongod, Sabah were forced to evacuate late last night due to floods.
