Ex-radio DJ to enter defence on drug trafficking charge

KUALA LUMPUR:
The High Court here has ordered former radio DJ Ismahalil Hamzah to enter his defence on a charge of trafficking cannabis two years ago.

Justice Jamil Husin said the prosecution had established a prima facie case against the accused by fulfilling all the ingredients of the offence.

Ismahalil, 49, is charged with trafficking 374.6g of cannabis at a house at Jalan Semarak, Wangsa Maju here on Aug 27, 2021.

The offence carries the death penalty upon conviction.

Lawyer Ahmad Zaharil Muhaiyar told the court Ismahalil would give evidence from the witness stand.

He said the defence will also call another four witnesses to testify.

The defence’s case, scheduled for two days, will begin on May 30.
