The subsidy for chicken eggs will continue until June, involving a total cost of RM1.28 billion.

The agriculture and food security ministry said the Cabinet had agreed last week to continue subsidising chicken eggs to ensure that the supply of eggs remains stable.

A study on the mechanism and policy of targeted subsidies will be finalised soon.

The ministry also said it will review the need to bring in chicken eggs from overseas once the country’s supply stabilises.
