PETALING JAYA:
Former Umno veteran Annuar Musa is considering joining a new political party three months after he was sacked by the party.

The former Umno secretary-general and Ketereh MP said he is “seriously thinking” about choosing a party that matches his political values of “protecting Islam, the Malays and the country”.

“Hopefully, there is a party that is willing to accept me as a member,” he said in an online posting today.

He said he had spent the past three months evaluating and observing current political developments.

A member of Umno since 1979, Annuar was dropped from Barisan Nasional’s lineup in the November general election.

In December, Umno secretary-general Ahmad Maslan confirmed that Annuar and two other divisional leaders had been sacked by the party.

Annuar has maintained that he does not know why he was sacked, adding that he had not been accused of any wrongdoing.

Since then, the former minister has been busy leading his NGO Muafakat Nasional.
